Hi!  I am Carmen Scoggins, and I teach Spanish at Watauga High School in Boone, North Carolina, where I am also an adjunct Spanish and Foreign Language Methodology instructor at Appalachian State University.  At Appalachian, I earned a BS and MA in Spanish Education.  In 2010, I received National Board certification.  As an active member of ACTFL, SCOLT, and FLANC, I am a past president of FLANC, and currently serve as the past president of SCOLT.  In 2007, I was FLANC’s Teacher of the Year, and in 2008, I was named the SCOLT Teacher of the Year.

I have presented at the state, regional, and national levels on integrating technology into the world language classroom and personalizing the language-learning experience.  My passion is getting future world language teachers involved in the profession by presenting and attending conferences. My alma mater, Appalachian State University, recognized my contributions to the field of education and leadership as its 2017-18 College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Alumni Award winner. I am in my 27th year of teaching, but I will always see myself as an eternal student, looking for ways to improve my classroom practices and striving to learn more about the language I love.
